Jessica Binder - Education Director

Jessica created and runs the Milwaukee and statewide Safe Routes to School Programs, Bike Camps, and adult bicyclist and motorist education programs. With a degree in geography and urban studies, she has contributed to the Bike Fed's planning work and coauthored the Marshall Bicycle Plan, Bayside Safe Routes to School Plan, Milwaukee Bike Parking Study, and Milwaukee Off-Street Bikeway Study.
Favorite bike: "1985 pink Peugeot that was found on a river bank and built up a by friend with old spare parts and given to me in college. It got me riding again and is now my fixed gear commuter that is great for winter riding."
Great memory of biking in Wisconsin: "Camping and riding tandem to historic breweries and buildings in the southwest part of the state."

Hilary Carroll - Director of Membership & Development

Hilary (pictured here with mountain biking legend Gary Fisher) is the go-to person when you have questions about membership with the Bike Fed. She plans events to get the word out about the Bike Fed and attract more members, and she manages our online store. She came to the Bike Fed with years of experience in non-profit development.
Hilary has a bachelor's degree in environmental policy from Northland College in Ashland, Wis. Her first job was at the age of 15 as a mechanic at her parents' bike shop. In college, she volunteered with a community bike sharing program called Sunshine Bikes, helping to maintain the fleet.
Favorite bike: "My Giant Iguana. But the red-and-white checkered bike I got when I was 3 is a close second. It was a good bike and passed on to 10 kids after me. Later owners were still bringing it to the bike shop for me to work on it when I was a teenager."
Great memory of biking in Wisconsin: "When I was a kid, my favorite trail was Elroy-Sparta. I just thought the trails were the coolest ever. I'd ride them on my coaster-brake bike. And biking in January in Ashland was always an adventure."

Brian Conger - Statewide Outreach Coordinator

Brian is working to expand the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin's mission across the state by building Bike Fed communication, involvement, and membership in new communities. He has a degree in political science and history from the University of Wisconsin of Madison, and previously worked as an intern at Bicycle New South Wales, a bike advocacy organization in Sydney, Australia. Brian's projects at the Bicycle Federation include outreach efforts in communities, bike clubs, and bike shops throughout the state. In addition, he has worked with the WI DOT in updating their Wisconsin Bicycling maps, developed a Membership-In-A-Bottle pilot program, and has helped organize BTWW and the Saris Gala. Brian enjoys being active, and is particularly drawn to outdoor endurance events.
Favorite bike: Trek 2100 Road Bike - This bike ignited Brian's passion for road biking and touring, and it has taken him on many of his best rides around the country and in Australia.
Great memory of biking in Wisconsin: "Rediscovering the joys of mountain biking on the trails and logging roads of northern Wisconsin."

Kevin Hardman - Executive Director

Kevin (pictured here with his oldest daughter Sophia) is responsible for managing every aspect of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin's day-to-day operations including deployment of staff and programming, fundraising, and shepherding the organization's statewide, legislative advocacy.
Kevin joins the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin with over 15 years of business and real-estate development experience. He is a strong advocate for the creation of bikeable and walkable communities. Kevin is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU), an organization that promotes human-scale development, and is past national chair of CNU's Development Task Force. He is also on the board of directors of the Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District (BID).
Kevin holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Favorite bike: 1988 Centurion Sport DLX

Kathryn Kingsbury - Director of Communication

Kathryn works to let every Wisconsinite know about the great work that the Bike Fed is doing throughout our state. She is responsible for Bike Fed publications, social media, and press relations. She launched her communications career at the age of eight, publishing the eponymous
KTK magazine, which had a total readership of five, if you include her dog.
Kathryn has a bachelor's degree in linguistics from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She bikes for distance, not speed.
Favorite bike: "Schwinn Traveler - My first 'grown-up' bike was a women's Schwinn Traveler circa 1970. In 2005, I upgraded to a lighter men's Schwinn Traveler circa 1985 and equipped it with clipless pedals so I could go 100 miles without getting shin splints."
Great memory of biking in Wisconsin: "Every commute, every tour, every time."

Kevin Luecke - Lead Planner

Kevin is responsible for all aspects of bicycle planning at the Bike Fed, including facilities planning, cartography, and GIS analysis. Kevin has masters degrees in urban planning and public affairs as well as a certificate in transportation management and policy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to joining the Bike Fed, Kevin worked for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning where he performed analysis of transportation options and performed public outreach. Additionally, Kevin coached collegiate-level women's rowing for 11 years which instilled in him the value of teamwork and communication in achieving a goal.
As a life-long bicycle commuter who has never owned a car, Kevin is enthusiastic about improving bicycle facilities and making cycling a viable means of transportation and recreation for all Wisconsin residents.
Favorite bike: "2002 Fondriest Status Carb with Campagnolo Record components - what is better than a steel Italian road bike with Italian parts?"

Jake Newborn - Project Coordinator, Lead Mechanic

Jake has been with the Bike Fed since October of 2007 and is the Safe Routes to School Coordinator in Milwaukee. He manages the Bike Fed's bicycle shop and warehouse at Milwaukee's North Division High School, where students learn to fix bikes for Milwaukee's Safe Routes to School education programs. Jake has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in educational studies-youth education. He is a year-round bike commuter, hasn't owned a car since he was 18, and currently has five bikes road-ready - with two more waiting in the wings. In his spare time Jake plays bike polo for Team Hero Squad and routinely travels across North America to compete in tournaments.
Favorite bike: "My polo bike because I've put so much money and effort to keep it running smooth despite so much abuse."
Great memory of biking in Wisconsin: "Riding home from a Brewers game on the Hank Aaron State Trail and passing the line of cars (with Illinois plates) barely creeping along after a huge win over the Cubs".

Amanda White - Director of the Madison Office

Amanda (pictured here in jeans on a push-me-pull-me tandem) leads the Madison team in building momentum and support for enhanced infrastructure, innovative policies, and increased funding opportunities for bicycling throughout Dane County.
Prior to joining the Bike Fed, Amanda helped launch Community Car, Madison's local car sharing service, and led the organization's growth for 5 years. Amanda also has experience in non-profit fund raising, communications, and media relations. Amanda serves as Vice Chair of the City of Madison's Transit and Parking Commission and has been a member of Downtown Madison, Inc. for over five years.
Favorite bike: 1964 Silverjet Huffy
